Simon Pound
After two years of reporting for Media7, Simon Pound has travelled all around the shop to bring back stories of media people, happenings, characters and issues.
Simon is now chuffed to be helping make The AD Show, reporting on issues in the industry and meeting advertising people. But most of all he enjoys the new opportunities to engage with The AD Show audience - through its use of social media to learn what the viewers think and have to add to the discussions and also through the live studio audience interaction that makes up part of each show. It's exciting territory.
Advertising is an interest of Simon's. He has worked on a couple of groundbreaking campaigns as a creative and copywriter - mainly in the experiential and social media areas- and has enjoyed his limited experience. He's excited to be able to combine television production and advertising in this show.
Simon's interests also include music, film, reading and
directing. He enjoys making and/or trying to make music videos,
commercials and TV shows through his and Warren Green's company
Satin & Lace.
In any spare time Simon enjoys helping his Lady, fashion designer
Ingrid Starnes, with her fledgling label.
Previously, Simon has worked as a media reporter on TV ONE's Agenda where he reported on the 2005 campaign, political media, ethnic media and profiles of prominent figures among many topics.
His personal highlights included following Winston Peters for a week on the campaign trail and breaking a number of stories over topics such as dodgy reporting at one of the country's largest papers, and the cost of the Working for Families media campaign.
His TV career also includes fronting the C4 documentary series The Cut.
Outside of television, Simon submits stories to Public Address Radio on Radio Live, files a Media Moment for George FM and is an occasional panellist on RNZ Nationals Afternoons with Jim Mora.
Simon spent many happy years at 95bfm - where he devised, and enjoyed hosting, the Sunday Breakfast format. These days, as a father to infant twins, Simon spends Sunday mornings changing nappies.
Radio highlights include interviewing David Irving, Theodore Dalrympye, Antony Beevor and PJ O'Rourke.
He has also written for, and helped produce, men's lifestyle quarterly FQ Men magazine, and has worked across fashion, music and lifestyle writing for other publications and is a regular contributor to Rip it Up Magazine.
