Test The Nation 2005

FAQs - Taking The Test Using Your Mobile Phone

You can take the test using SMS (texting) on your mobile phone.  All you need to do is send in a string of 20 answers.  You will receive a text stating that we have received your answers.  At the end of the test your final score will be sent to you by text.

How do I do the test by text?

Watch Test The Nation - the Great New Zealand Test on TV ONE at 7.30pm on Monday 27 June and listen out for the text instructions.

It's easiest if you write down your answers on a piece of paper, or even better, on an official scorecard downloaded from this website, or from either the TV Guide or Sunday Star Times.

At the end of the first 20 questions send your answers to 8875.  You will need to type in the keyword for each block of questions: ONE, TWO, THREE etc, a space and your string of 20 answers. Eg: ONE abcdabcdabcdabcdabcd

Continue this pattern for each block of questions. At the end of each block you will receive a text prompting you for the next set of answers.

  • If you don't know the answer to a question you can guess.  Do not miss out any answers, or the whole sequence will be wrong.
  • You must submit a string of 20 answers for each section.
  • Do not include any commas, slashes, hyphens, full stops etc in your message.

How much will texting cost me ?

Text messages to 8875 cost 75 cents (including gst).

You will need to send up to 5 messages to complete the test, which is a total of $3.75.

How do I get my text results?

When you have finished sending all your answers in, you'll get your score back by text.   How long this takes will depend on how many people are taking the test by text, so don't expect your result to come back right away.
