Swedish third seed Robin Soderling cruised into the Heineken Open semi-finals with a straightforward 6-4 6-4 victory over American qualifier John Isner.
Compared with the drama-filled epic on Wednesday night, this match was disappointing as Isner came up with a mountain of errors.
Indeed the 23-year-old Isner only won seven points on the Soderling serve in the entire match.
The American qualifier was playing his sixth match in sixth days and struggled all night with every stroke - save for his booming serve.
World number 17 Soderling gave a tidy, performance but will want to improve if he wants to go deeper in the tournament.
The 24-year-old Swede was solid and particularly happy with the way he handled the fearsome Isner serve.
"I returned very well and was seeing the ball early. I improved a lot from yesterday."
The 2.05m Isner possesses a serve that a top-ten player would be proud to own, but has a backhand that lacks conviction or depth and equates more with his ranking of 144.
The first set barely had a noteworthy rally and was dominated by the thunderous serves that both possess.
When a rally did break out, it always seemed a matter of time before Isner would make a forced - or unforced - error.
The tennis improved in the second set as the American began to find some range and made successful ventures to the net.
Soderling gained an early break in the second set and while Isner never stopped trying, it was inevitable that the classy Swede would take set and the match in just short of one hour.
Soderling will face top seed and world number nine Juan Martin Del Potro in the second semi-final on Friday and is very wary of the in-form Argentine.
"He had a fantastic year. It will be a tough match - but we are in the semi-finals of a major tournament - it has to be tough."
The Soderling -Del Potro match will be preceded by the first semi-final featuring Spainard David Ferrer and American Sam Querrey
