Pressure grows on NZ Tennis hierarchy

Published: 11:54AM Wednesday September 23, 2009 Source: Newstalk ZB

There have been increasing calls on Wednesday for the top brass of Tennis New Zealand to resign in the wake of Onny Parun's stinging attack on the game's hierarchy.

SPARC CEO Peter Miskimmin publicly backed CEO Steve Walker on Tuesday but leading coaches have called for his and National Coaching director Peter McCraw to step down.

Auckland-based coach John McMahon says concerns were raised by top coaches at a meeting in April and not long after the National women's coach Peter Lumsden resigned.

McMahon said he doesn't know if that was a direct consequence of pressure being put on but hopefully McCraw will soon be removed and he will call for Steve Walker's head as well.

John McMahon's criticised the coaching methods employed by Tennis New Zealand and the management of tours.
