New Zealand tennis player Marina Erakovic has been knocked out of the first round of the Sony Open in Miami.
American Coco Vandewegehe, ranked 104 in the world, beat Erakovic 6-4 7-6 (6) in one hour and forty-eight minutes.
The result will be particularly frustrating for world number 68 Erakovic given that she jumped out to a 3-0 lead in both sets and then quickly saw her advantage whittle away.
At six foot two Vandewegehe is one of the taller players of the WTA circuit and she used her height advantage to hammer down eight aces to two.
Conversely, Erakovic's serving struggles continued as she inexplicably threw down eight double faults.
It's that sort of statistic that has highlighted a disappointing dip in form as the season quickly moves towards the clay courts of Europe.
