New Zealand tennis No. 1 Marina Erakovic has hit some good form with a 7-5 6-2 win over American Jamie Hampton in the quarterfinals of the US$235,000 WTA event in Memphis.
The contest took one hour 24 minutes on centre court at the combined men's and women's tournament and saw Erakovic play a consistent match with a 60 per cent first serve as well as taking four out of eight break point opportunities on Hampton's serve.
Hampton is currently ranked at 66 in the world and defeated Erakovic in the second round of the ASB Classic in early January
Erakovic who is ranked 71st will now play Switzerland's Stefanie Voegele ranked 89th in the semifinals. On the two occasions they have played in the past Erakovic has won both. The last time they played was in Bogota in 2012.
Erakovic was a beaten finalist in Memphis last year and is playing her first tournament since damaging her thumb in a fall at the Fed Cup in Kazakhstan .
