Royal watchers will be able to follow Prince William's visit to New Zealand on Facebook and Bebo.

The New Zealand government has set up pages on the social networking sites, where it will publish pictures and information on the three-day visit in January.

The web pages were created following a request from the government to St James's Palace.

Both websites have posted a picture of the royal dressed in a dark suit and red tie alongside an image of a silver fern.

During his visit, Prince William will open the country's new Supreme Court building in Wellington.

He will then travel to Australia, where he will meet members of the Aboriginal community and families who lost their homes in devastating bushfires earlier this year.
