Pressure is mounting on the government to address a controversial amendment to copyright laws due to take effect in just over a week.
The amendment could affect people's right to use the internet. Internet service providers will have to cut the internet connection of anyone "repeatedly accused" of infringing the law, from the end of the month.
Advocates say it is necessary to keep a lid on the growing problem of illegal downloading and copyright infringement online.
But critics say it establishes guilt by accusation principle, reversing a person's rights to be presumed innocent until proven guilty.
Disgruntled internet users are protesting changes to the copyright law by staging a "black-out" demonstration. They are changing their pictures on social networking sites such as Facebook, MySpace and Bebo to black.
The Creative Freedom Foundation will present a 10,000 strong petition to parliament on Thursday in a bid to stop the law change.
