Iran election is top Twitter trend

The aftermath of the Iran elections was the top Twitter trend for 2009.

Among all the keywords, hashtags, and phrases that proliferated throughout the year, the Iranian election surfaced repeatedly among Twitter users.

The terms iranelection, Iran and Tehran were all in the top-21 of Trending Topics, and iranelection finished in a close second behind the regular weekly favorite musicmonday.

Iranelection lead in the news events category top-10 list, followed by Swine Flu at No. 2 and Gaza - referring to the Gaza/Israeli war - at No. 3

The most twittered person was Michael Jackson, followed by UK singing sensation Susan "I dreamed a dream" Boyle and American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert.

Interestingly enough, Chuck Norris was in the top-10 at No. 6. Tiger Woods made it at number 8 and is a late entry.

Among movies, shock of all shocks, Harry Potter out-Twittered New Moon.

American Idol and Glee lead the top twittered TV shows.
