Internet blogger Cameron Slater says he will fight charges laid against him for breaking court name suppression orders .

He is facing five charges over comments on the Whaleoil blog, which police say gave enough clues to identify people involved in a high-profile sex offence cases.

He's due to appear in the Auckland District Court next month.

There have been warnings in the past, but this is the first time a blogger has been taken to court.

Slater says he will defend the cases, because he believes name suppression laws should be changed.
