Oct 15: End of bus strike

Ruia ana te taone o Tamaki e te ua, engari hei aha te aha whiti mai ana te raa mo nga nga tangata hopu pahi.
It is a muggy, running day in Auckland, but the sun is sunning for those who catch the bus.

"I was very happy this morning, when I got to town I was able to catch the bus. It is raining today, so I was very excited to see the buses running."

At 4:00am this morning the buses started picking up passengers.

Ahakoa ano he whitu raa e noho ngoikore ana nga pahi i waenga i nga tohe a NZ Bus me nga kaimahi, ina i tau ai te wero mai i te Kaunihera a Rohe o Tamaki, tera pea ka raru te kawenata ki a NZ Bus ki te kore ratou e mahi i te mahi.
The buses where lying stationary for seven days because of the dispute between NZ Bus and there employees, so the challenge came from the Auckland regional council, get the buses going, or be willing to loose your contract.

Bus Commuter Elsdon Moore: "Mohio tonu ana te kaunihera, me mahi tonu te tangata engari kua pahure, kua kitea, kei te kaha haere ratau ki te wiriwiri me pehea te tau o tenei take, ana kua tae te ra nei, kua timata ano nga pahi."
"The council knows that, people need to work, and they have stepped up to the mark on this issue, and the results are evident, the buses are running today."

Although most of the buses are running today, some regions are still waiting.

So Te Kura Kaupapa Maori o Manurewa have found a solution.

Manurewa Maori School Principal Dora McHeod: "I whakaritea e matau te waka hautu o te kura, ko taua waka ra, hei mau i nga tamariki toko iti nei ki wetahi wahi, ina whai haere te pahi i wetahi haerenga."
"We arranged the school van, to take the students that usually catch the bus, to bring them to school."

But in spite of the schools best efforts, the students are still hoping the busses return soon.

RAIMA COLEMAN - Manurewa Maori School Student Raima Coleman: "Tino pirangi ahau kia mahi ano nga pahi."
"I really want the buses to be running again."

NZ Bus are hoping that there full services are operational tomorrow.
