Dec 23 - Family Angry & Wedding couple
Dec 23 - Tangaere family are angry with the Tairawhiti District Health board
He mauiui rawa nona. Heoi, kei te hari koa tona whanau, ma te aha i te mauiui, i te korekore rawa atu nei.
Tipuna Tangaere was too ill to be interviewed today. Nevertheless, his children are thankful their father is still alive.
Cushla Tangaere: " I was worried. And I knew if we didn't do anything, my father was going to die."
A, i ana ra tekau ma rua i reira, e rua noa iho nga wa i tirohia ia e te takuta.
Tipuna was taken by ambulance to Gisborne hospital where he was later diagnosed with congestive heart failure. In the 12 days he spent there, the doctor saw him all but twice.
Cushla Tangaere: " After twelve days, they said dad was ready to go home. And it was obvious that he was still sick."
He kaha rawa no te maharahara o Cushla me tana tuakana, he mea hari to raua papa ki tetahi atu takuta.
Dissatisfied and concerned, Cushla and her family took their father to another doctor, who after two weeks of monitoring Tipuna, referred him to Middlemore hospital, where he lay for two months.
Tairawhiti district health wouldn't comment saying the family was yet to make a formal complaint with the board. They said that once that happened, the board would then investigate the issues raised by the Tangaere family.
That complaint is something the family is currently working on. They say, that if they're not satisfied with the DHB's response, then it will become a matter for the courts to decide.
Cushla Tangaere: "The hospital needs to get back to basics; love, care, and nurture. We need to be treated like more than just a number."
Dec 23 - A Whanganui couple angry the H has been removed from their marriage certificate
Hei taa te tokorua nei, he mea takahi tenei i too raua whakapapa.
A Whanganui couple who are getting married soon are angry at
the letter "h" being taken off their marriage certificate.
Although the letter "h" has been passed in to law for the name Whanganui it won't be until next year that government departments and others will actually use the "h" so Wanganui is instead the name on their marriage certificate.
According to the pair this is trampling on their genealogy.
E whakareri ana a daniel paranihi raua ko atiria adlam mo to
raua raa whakahirahira, e hono tahi ai raua i roto i te
Daniel Paranihi and Atiria Adlam are getting ready for their big day when they tie the knot of love .
Kua roa ta raua takahi i tenei huarahi - he nui nga mahi
whakariterite, he nui hoki nga piki me nga heke.
Indeed they have come a long way and there are lots to organise, not to mention the up's and down's.
Atiria Adlam:"We've got a million things to do before the wedding heaps of organising heaps of everything it's all sort of just come around in the last week"
Ko tetahi o nga raru - ko ta raua raihana marena.
One of the stresses is their marriage licence.
Although they wanted the letter "h" put into the name of their town, the courts took it out.
No wanganui ahau no wanganui taku whanau. Ki ta matou whanau me
te tohe o wanganui he pu kei roto i te kupu whanganui
I'm from Whanganui and my family is from Whanganui. To my family and the wider region of Whanganui that letter is in the name Whanganui
Although they contested the issue with the court it was to no avail. According to the court that is the law.
nga ingoa o nga wahi i whanau mai ai raua.
However, due to their perseverance, the court agreed under instruction from the justice ministry to add the letter "h" to the spelling of where they were born.
Atiria Adlam :"i'm happy with where it is as my place of birth because that's where i'm from but where they've put it for the registry that's still Whanganui too with an h
Ahakoa te aha e kore tenei take e whakakino i te ra nui, i to
ratou whanau hoki..
No matter what, this issue won't put a damper on their day, nor their family.
Atiria Adlam: "I love everyday that we spend together as a couple and as a family with our children as well."
Hei te toru tekau ma tahi o tenei marama ka tu te hui whakanui i to raua hononga.
The couple's big day will be held on the 31st of this
