A fire at Te Wānanga o Raukawa destroyed a building last night, but staff say it could have much worse. Multiple fire engines were called to control the blaze, but no one was injured and no valued taonga were destroyed.

The Rauawaawa Kaumātua Charitable Trust is a non-profit organisation that helps combat kaumātua isolation by organising events and providing support. Now they are fundraising to renovate their kaumātua complex, Te Puna o Te Ora, which is nearing 80 years old.
