‘Poi is about poi not gender’ - expert
A poi expert today has slammed the rule banning single-sex boy’s schools from being judged for performing the poi at the upcoming national secondary schools kapa haka competition. Ngamoni Huata, author of "The Rhythm and Life of the Poi", says judging is all about the poi and not the gender of the person performing.

Air NZ announce $338m profit
Air New Zealand has just announced a massive increase in half-year profits, up 154% to $338m. The national carrier says its interim result was driven by "exceptionally strong passenger revenue growth, underpinned by over 16 percent capacity growth across the network".
Popular beach reopened after sewage spillage
One of the Bay of Plenty's most popular beaches has been closed since Monday afternoon after a sewage leak overflowed in to Pilot Bay at the Mount in Tauranga. Warnings were taken down this afternoon, however, earlier we witnessed people who were swimming at one end of the bay.
