About the first series:
The 10 destinations were chosen for their culinary diversity and cultural interest, so there's a mix of tropical, Asian and American cuisine. Mathias had a ball checking out the local recipes. "People around the world are still proud of their food traditions and they are thrilled to share it with someone," says Mathias. "It's so important not to let go of your indigenous cooking traditions; lose them and you lose part of yourself."
Mathias and her team travel from Malaysia to Canada to Chile in
their quest to bring fabulous food to New Zealand audiences. During
the series, Mathias visits Thailand and discovers that there is
more to Thai cuisine than the ubiquitous green curry, in Australia
she soaks up the atmosphere in wine-drenched Victoria and in Chile
she encounters the culinary traditions of the native Indians and
the Spanish conquistadors
