Finlay's blog: Tom Scott
You may have seen Tom Scott's recent dramatisation of the 1981
Springbok tour,
Rage
, on TV recently. Thirty years on from that nation-cracking event
he reckons the issues and the implications are as relevant as
ever.
Indeed, he counts first among his many achievements - cartoonist,
political columnist, playwright, film-maker - his long commitment
to the anti-apartheid cause.
Long before the batons and barbed wire he was helping organise the
local resistance to a political and rugby establishment that would
rather deny Maori the right to play for the All Blacks in South
Africa than stand up to that country's racist laws.
This, and his other enduring passion - to make a film about Sir
Edmund Hillary - he discusses in typically hilarious and
anecdotally generous style on the last Talk Talk - ever. And we go
out in style, with a fantastic performance from The Adults,
featuring Shayne Carter, Julia Deans and Jon Toogood. Thanks for
watching.
