Spoil the child?
As a 9-year-old, she watched in fear as her sister was beaten by
her parents with a wooden spoon. She wanted to call the police.
Then she watched her sister's life disintegrate, from running away
at 15, living on the streets, to teenage pregnancy. Could the
problems be sheeted back to a culture of smacking? Sunday also
looks at four other children who felt the back of their father's

My father's flag
It was one of those defining moments for a young man. He had just
met his biological mother and she told him his birth father was the
very man he had been studying at university... NZ television
cameraman Gary Cunningham, shot and killed, some say executed, by
invading Indonesian forces in East Timor 34 years ago. Now the son
is seeking justice for his father.
Hooked on food
Can food arouse the mind? If you think about a chocolate chippie,
it will make you want one and in turn make you feel good. The brain
is wired in such a way that it's hooked on food. The brain has been
hijacked by fat, sugar and salt. So manufacturers make food to
trigger our cravings - making it one of the greatest public health
issues of our time.
