9/11 - State of Emergency

A special Sunday report marking the day the world changed forever - 8:46 am on Tuesday September 11, 2001.

When Al-Qaeda suicide flew a hijacked American Airlines Flight 11 into floors 93 through 99 on the north face of the north tower of the World Trade Center, America was tested as never before.

Political and military leaders , as well as ordinary men and women found themselves on the frontline of a new kind of war.

Former National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice talks candidly about a Government in crisis.

"Despite all the sophisticated command and control and equipment, much of it didn't function very well ..frankly we had to make it up"

We also speak to a frustrated and confused National Air Traffic Manager Ben Sliney.

For the first time in history he tries to pull every aircraft out of the sky.

And with America under attack an Air Traffic Controller was wondering 'Where's the President? Where the heck is the military?"

An administration in crisis and a country in chaos.

The reactions and responses of America.
