For 24 hours, Justy McLean was a man of two parts - himself and his left hand - separated.
Up until this year, Southern man Justy had led an unremarkable life - quiet, hardworking, solitary. That was until he suffered a horrific work place injury.
Most of us would have been devastated - scarred for life, but not Justy.
This is the extraordinary story of workmates, family, the local cop and a team of surgeons who rallied around him to try and save his hand.
