Jono Kenyon plays Dave
Jono was born and raised in Essex, England, before moving to Marlborough as a 13 year old with his family.
He attended Toi Whakaari straight after finishing his last year of school, and graduated in 2010.
A couple of months out of drama school, he was picked up for his first professional theatre gig, Auckland Theatre Company's Mary Stuart, where he starred as 'Mortimer' alongside Robyn Malcolm.
In 2012 he was cast again by ATC as 'Demetrius' in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
Shortly after, Jono went on to play the loveable Constable Tom Ryan in the fifth season of Go Girls.
The following year turned out to be the best preparation for the role of 'Dave' Jono could have asked for. A lack of acting work saw him working part time at Chapel Bar on Ponsonby Road, living on $300 a week, training hard in the gym and generally going about a 23 year old man's business.
It all came to unexpected fruition when he won his first lead role in a television series.
After the first season of Step Dave wrapped, Jono took some time to tread the boards again, starring in Ache at the Court Theatre in Christchurch.
Jono has an interest in music and has a band called The Bros with his flatmates James Tito from The Maori Quartet and Shortland Street’s 'Alex', Richard Osborne.
He has also had guest co-host appearances on various radio shows.
