TVNZ 7 presents Spotlight on Science and Innovation Month
Spotlight on Science and Innovation starts in
August on TVNZ 7.
TVNZ 7 is proud to bring you Spotlight on Science + Innovation, a
month of outstanding programming providing insight and information
on all things science and innovation.
TVNZ 7's multi-platform, Spotlight on Science + Innovation, offers local and international science programmes, which will excite, inform and inspire New Zealanders about science and innovation, and grow understanding of the role science and innovation plays in our lives. During the month we will demystify the issues, explain the jargon and excite with the stories. Spotlight on Science +Innovation will contribute to New Zealanders being confident discussing, debating and having an opinion about science and innovation in New Zealand and the value it has in their lives.
TVNZ 7 is in perfect company partnering with the Ministry of
Science and Innovation (MSI) for Spotlight on Science +
Innovation. MSI has an ambitious mandate to foster research
and business innovation and to create an environment where
innovative ideas are born, flourish and deliver results for New
Zealand.
MSI chief executive Murray Bain says, "MSI is committed to driving
innovation through greater collaboration between the business
sector and our research organisations, and to building networks
that strengthen New Zealand's innovation ecosystem.
"An important role for MSI is showcasing New Zealand's science
and innovation success stories. We are proud to partner with TVNZ 7
to bring you Spotlight on Science + Innovation. We are also
honouring our leading scientists and innovators who are providing
inspiration for others to follow."
TVNZ 7 is also partnering with the Royal Society of New Zealand to
bring a new season of the locally commissioned show, Ever
Wondered?, to our screens. The series showcases the exciting work
of New Zealand scientists and is presented by award-winning young
scientist John Watt.
Philippa Mossman, TVNZ 7 Channel Manager, says science and innovation are at the heart of everything. "TVNZ 7's Spotlight on Science + Innovation is our opportunity to throw some light at that, to showcase the work and the advances of our scientists and our innovators, and to consider how much we value them and what they do for our economy and lifestyle.
"TVNZ 7 is all about discovering, discussing and debating and we hope the thought-provoking documentaries, programmes and special events on offer will give viewers an exciting opportunity to see something new. We warmly acknowledge our partners in TVNZ 7's Spotlight on Science + Innovation - the Ministry of Science and Innovation and the Royal Society of New Zealand."
TVNZ 7 and the Ministry of Science and Innovation will
collaborate with The University of Waikatos Science Learning Hub to
take Ever Wondered? and Innovation Stories to the classroom, with
education resources freely available both online and DVD. Teachers
