Vasa Levi
Vasa is in her mid to late thirties, and is the ex-wife of Maxwell Avia. Vasa is good looking and can be kind when she wants to be, but her good qualities are often overshadowed by her fiery temper. She's highly motivated and driven, and her pushy attitude has certainly contributed to the successes she's had in life.
Vasa is from a respected family in Samoa, and is very intellectual. She'd planned to go to med school to train as a doctor, but when she fell pregnant her plans went on the back-burner.
What wasn't immediately revealed to Maxwell was that the child wasn't his. Vasa got pregnant after a one-night stand, but kept the fact secret from Maxwell in the fear that he'd break up with her if he found out. However, once Maxwell's gambling became a real problem and their relationship was on the rocks, she was quick to pull out a paternity test as evidence that Maxwell had no real right to her daughter. For a long time, Vasa has held a grudge against Maxwell and made sure that he's had no contact with the "daughter" he looked after for nine years.
Although she feels a little ripped off that she had to sacrifice her career to become a mother, Vasa loves her daughter Ula deeply and doesn't regret her decision. However, she'd never admit this to Maxwell - or the fact that once she began nursing training, she realised she'd found her true calling.
After returning to Ferndale, Vasa tried to rekindle her relationship with Maxwell, but soon realised that he wasn't the man for her. Vasa would love to find a new man to settle down into a relationship with, but so far, the right guy hasn't come along.
In the meantime, she has knuckled down at work, taking on the HoD of Nursing role after Scotty left and keeping an eye on her wayward teenage daughter.
Vasa was shocked to learn that her daughter Ula is
pregnant.
