Shavaughn Ruakere
Well-known TV presenter and Radio DJ, Shavaughn Ruakere is
already a familiar face to many in New Zealand.
Now she adds
Shortland Street to an already
extensive CV that has seen her grace TV screens both here and
abroad for over 10 years.
Born and raised in New Plymouth, Shavaughn has always has always
been at home in front of a crowd.
Aceing all her school speech competitions, Shavaughn fell in love
with performing when she played Ebeneezer Scrooge in her primary
school's production of Dickens' A Christmas Carol.
Moving to Auckland from high school, Shavaughn began studying for a BA but after a chance meeting with an agent, auditioned for the kiwi kids show, What Now, won the role and moved to Christchurch to work on the show.
After five years on What Now, Shavaughn's itchy feet took her to
the UK where she was snapped up for the presenter's role on ITV's
equally chaotic live Saturday morning show SMTV.
There she interviewed the likes of Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp,
Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears.
Back in NZ, Shavaughn took to our screens as a presenter on C4 hosting the NZ Official Top Forty and Meaty (Music, Entertainment Around Town), and is if that didn't keep her busy enough she also presented TV specials for the Smokefree Dance Challenge, the Big Day Out, and the New Zealand Music Awards Red Carpet.
Shavaughn has also showcased her skills in radio, working as a
breakfast host on Mai FM and has appeared in roles in the films
River Queen and Sione's Wedding.
A natural beauty, Shavaughn has also been recognized for this by men's magazine FHM who voted her one of the top ten sexiest women in New Zealand.
