Sally Martin's 365 Eyes
Shorty Star Sally Martin and well-known Chef Michael Meredith are teaming up to help people in the Pacific see again. They're working together to support The Fred Hollows Foundation's efforts to restore sight to the needlessly blind. Michael and Sally want to help raise enough money to restore vision for 365 people and change their lives forever!
Sally and Michael are offering up the chance for people to bid for a once in a lifetime experience: the opportunity to have Michael and Sally come to the winner’s house to create a blind dining experience. Michael will cook them an amazing Polynesian-themed degustation dinner and Sally will host the dinner. The only catch is – some of the dinner will be eaten with masks on so the diners will have to use their other senses to find – and enjoy – the food.
Other auction items include a personalised tour of Shortland Street by Sally and an opportunity to be part of the show with a walk-on role experience.
“You can change the lives of a needlessly blind person and their families, so drastically, with such a small amount of money. Michael and I were working together on this dinner idea in support of Fred Hollows when he came to me with the 365 Eyes concept. I want to do my part to help by raising awareness and funds to achieve this goal.”
The Foundation carries on the work of the legendary Kiwi doctor Fred Hollows. Fred thought it an outrage that 4 out of 5 people who are blind don't need to be. The Foundation works to provide surgery to the world's poor and restore their sight for as little as $25 per person.
