Running on empty
Ido Drent plays Daniel Potts on
Street . And this year he has taken up running.
In fact, in 2011, running has become such a big part of Ido's life that he volunteered to run from the bottom of the North Island, all the way to Auckland. Joining a team of three other runners, who make up the Many Miles For Mary team.
Drent attempted to tackle an 870km run through the North Island of New Zealand to raise much-needed funds for Ronald McDonald House.
Despite his limited experience with running long distances, Drent jumped at the chance to take part in this year's event due to the unique nature of the challenge, coupled with the opportunity to raise munch-needed funds for Ronald McDonald House.
"I have never really enjoyed running that much, but this has proven to be an incredible challenge and an opportunity to achieve something pretty remarkable," says Drent. "Having been and visited Ronald McDonald House just recently, I am amazed at what they do and really hoped that we could help them in a big way with this event."
20/20 followed Ido through his training regime and got to learn a little bit about what makes Ido tick. Just why did he volunteer for this taunting task? And what happened along the way?
