Monday 3rd October (4847)
When the nurses are given their rostered shifts, Vinnie needs to swap with Jill. Winston's keen to be part of the gang and struggles with his role as Vasa's informant.
Jill gets caught out by Vasa and when she reports this to Vinnie, she finds out that two other nurses have been caught swapping shifts too. Vinnie asserts there must be a nark in their midst and he suspects it could be Winston.
He lays a trap and his nark theory is confirmed. Jill and Vinnie shun Winston and when he turns to Vasa for support hes given cold comfort.
Feeling bereft and isolated, Winston hopes Brooke will have time for him. Brooke feels unable to turn him away.
Luke sees the book Jasmine is reading about the afterlife and is impressed she's pursuing such a serious topic. Zlata reminds Luke about the form they must sign for the priest that states their commitment to bringing their children up in the Catholic faith.
Jasmine sees Luke at Sugar and they discuss different theories about life after death. Luke enjoys their talk and realises this is a preview of what it may be like talking to his own daughter.
Luke admits to Zlata that he can't agree with his children being brought up adhering to a Catholic doctrine. Zlata is furious and Luke knows he's put a spanner in the works with Zlata.
Bethany's impressed with Maxwell's ED but believes he needs another nurse to up throughput levels and efficiency. Maxwell explains he's asked many times and is satisfied he's running the ED as best as budgets will allow.
Bethany can't let it lie and presents her idea to Rachel. Rachel's impressed with Bethany's professional manner and announces she's going to take Bethany's advice and place an extra nurse in ED.
Maxwell feels put out that Bethany succeeded where he could not. Bethany calls him on it and they agree they are striving for the same things.
Maxwell and Bethany display their mutual respect while they work together and Maxwell sings Bethanys praises to Rachel.
Rachel proposes that Bethany take over the ED for a week to initiate any changes that are needed to be made. After praising Bethany so highly, Maxwell feels he can't say no.
Tuesday 4th October (4848)
Maxwell's forced to stifle his irritation with Bethany when Nicole points out he might benefit from the temporary takeover in ED.
However, he's irked when he arrives to work and is immediately overruled by a firm Bethany. Dealing with a tough case, Bethany is curious to learn Nicole is valued by Gabrielle as a theatre nurse.
She manages Nicole out of ED in favour of Vinnie, and Nicole is suspicious of her motivations. She frets to Luke that Bethany has only made the change to score time alone with Maxwell.
She feels better when Luke reminds her that Maxwell is unhappy at having his department taken over.
However, back in ED, Maxwell and Bethany share a warm moment when they score a win on a case.
Rachel is talked into fast-tracking the remote surgery when Chris is given a perfect first case. She has concerns about the speed with which things are moving, but is excited when Chris' prep reassures her.
Learning about the surgery, Gabrielle is also troubled by the pace but Rachel stands by her man. However, when the dry-run shows up issues with the technology, Rachel cancels the operation.
Chris doesn't give up, and when he finds the cause of the hiccup, he insists it's fixed and convinces Rachel to change her mind.
Minding Tillie full-time, Roimata finds herself slipping into mother mode. When TK books Roimata in to be there for Tillie's immunisations, Roimata feels guilty for supplanting Sarah.
Alone at home with Tillie, Roimata panics when she fears Tillie is in danger of choking, and the burden of responsibility weighs heavily on her. Roimata's unease grows when she's mistaken for Tillie's mother, and she's troubled by the close bond she's forming with the baby.
During the immunisation booking, TK is called away to ED and Roimata balks at being left alone while Tillie is injected. Vasa talks her around, but Roimata's rattled by her strong emotional response.
When TK arrives home, Roimata dumps Tillie on him and escapes, leaving TK troubled.
Wednesday 5th October (4849)
Roimata feels terrible for running out on Tillie and TK decides to take over Tillies care to give her a break. Roimata finds it hard to leave for work the next day when she discovers Tillie has a temperature.
TK encourages her to stick to the plan and Roimata makes an effort to put Tillie out of her mind. But a reminder of Tillie has Roimata flouting the rules to ring and check on her.
Vasa catches her out, and Roimata feels foolish, well aware that Tillie is safe with TK.
Returning home, Roimata cant hide how much shes missed Tillie but she remains determined to find a balance between her work and her parenting.
When Lana finds Mona struggling with her groceries, she offers assistance with shopping in the future. She's surprised and embarrassed when Mona turns up at work the next day wanting a lift home with her vegetable purchases.
Rachel fears Mona will become a regular fixture in the office, but Lana reassures she will keep Mona under control. Lana parks Mona in the cafeteria and Jill realises that Mona is becoming a burden.
Jill suggests that Mona fill her time with volunteer work and shes disappointed when Mona rejects the idea. Later, Mona changes her mind, realising that volunteer work will give her the chance to see more of Callum.
She finds she enjoys the work and Jill is delighted to see Mona in her element.
Chris and Rachel look forward to the remote surgery. Chris is confident of success and he relishes the challenge, despite the pressure of having a large audience.
Phoenix arrives at Jasmines with a present he's made for her - a sketch in the picture frame he obtained from the I.V. Murray recognises the frame and, noting Phoenixs itchiness, realises the bedbugs are back.
Phoenix and Murray rush to the hospital, interrupting Rachel where she is watching Chriss remote surgery. Itchy herself, Rachel is horrified to learn about the bedbugs.
Her worst fears are realised when Chris is troubled by itchiness during the operation. His scratching causes him to knock over the modem and hes mortified to realise hes severed the remote surgery connection.
Thursday 6th October (4850)
Chris is dismayed when he's forced to stop the remote surgery after knocking out the connection. Rachel is forced to wear the blame in front of Seth and Chris feels terrible.
Chris feels even worse when Rachel fears that the remote surgery initiative is in jeopardy. Chris admits culpability to Seth, who allows the next remote surgery to proceed on the proviso Callum is in charge when it happens.
Chris apologises to Gabrielle for not listening to her, and pushing for the remote surgery to happen under Rachel's stewardship. Gabrielle warns him against trying to control Rachel in the way he controlled her when they were together. Chris apologises to Rachel for pushing her too hard. Rachel accepts but laments that, once again, Callum gets all the glory.
Luke and Zlata are still off-side due to Luke's refusal to allow their children to receive a Catholic education. Luke is unhappy that he's the one who has to compromise and he and Zlata reach a stalemate. Bella consoles a troubled Zlata and fills in on the desk so she can go to church.
Luke follows Zlata and accidentally ends up in the priest's confession cubicle where he finds himself listening to Zlata confess her deepest thoughts. Getting a new insight into how much her religion means to her, Luke outs himself as her confidante and pledges his devotion to her. Zlata forgives him and they reconcile.
Jill is pleased when Derek shows an interest in Mona. Mona doesn't like him but grows interested when she learns that he's apparently independently wealthy.
Convinced that a new friend will help alleviate Mona's loneliness, Jill encourages Mona to have dinner with him. Mona's initially unsure but changes her mind and meets Derek for dinner. She is charmed until Brooke reveals to her and Jill that Derek is a known swindler of old ladies. Mona refuses to believe it, until she sees proof with her own eyes.
However despite this knowledge, she tells Jill and Callum that Derek is her new man, leaving Callum and Jill shocked.
Friday 7th October (4851)
Worried about Mona's new romance, Callum is frustrated when Mona
ignores his concerns. Callum follows up complaints about Derek and
fires him from his volunteer job. Callum also informs Derek of
Mona's penniless state, hopeful this will be enough to send Derek
packing.
Annoyed with Callum, Mona has to work hard to keep Derek
interested. Mona claims to own half of Callum's apartment
building and Derek is hooked by the promise of Mona's wealth.
Callum is annoyed to learn Mona's friendship with Derek is stronger
than ever.
Despite Rachel's concern that Jonathon hasn't made contact,
Gabrielle hopes for a fun reunion. Gabrielle reveals to Vinnie
and Nicole a puzzle she's purchased to keep herself and Jonathon
entertained, but she accidentally solves it during her
demonstration.
Gabrielle is at a loss and Nicole and Vinnie decide to help.
Nicole invites her along to Lana's girls night, hopeful Gabrielle
will learn to have fun. However, Gabrielle just can't relax.
When Jasmine opts to read a morbid book instead of going to the movies with Phoenix, Bella again worries that she's isolating herself. She shares her concern with Murray who assures Bella it's just a phase. But Bella isn't convinced and she organises a girls evening with Lana to cheer Jasmine up.
At work, Luke is concerned to notice Bella avoiding dealing with
cardiac patients. He talks to Bella about his concerns but Bella
evades, instead alerting Luke to her worry about Jasmine's
depression.
When Luke catches up with Jasmine she assures him she's fine and
reveals a mask she found in the Cooper garage - part of Luke's box
of voodoo paraphernalia. Luke is touched to realise Bella saved his
belongings from the rubbish.
Over at the girls night, Bella is frustrated by Jasmine's
tardiness. She arrives at the Coopers and receives a fright
intended for Evan. Bella is furious that Luke is encouraging
Jasmine's interest in the occult but Luke reasons that she's
frightened because she's in denial about her Long QT and can't
handle any reminders of her mortality.
