New face – Josh McKenzie
Look out for a familiar face on Shortland Street next week as award winning actor Josh McKenzie joins the show.
Award winning actor Josh McKenzie joins the Shortland Street cast on-air next week and while the details on his role are top secret at this stage, he’s already a familiar face to viewers with roles in several TV2 shows.
2013 has been a hectic year for Josh having worked on no less than four New Zealand TV shows as well as the international kids show, Power Rangers, arguably putting him in the running for the title of New Zealand’s busiest actor.
Josh also has a prestigious film career, having won an AFTA award from his role in The Hopes and Dreams of Gazza Snell.
He was busy working on a guest role in the drama series Nothing Trivial when he got a phone call asking him to also join the cast of Shortland Street.
Due to Josh’s busy schedule, he was filming episodes of Nothing Trivial at the same time as Shortland Street, which made for some very long days and a slight feeling of multiple personality disorder from playing different characters at the same time!
Josh is lucky enough to share his dressing room with his good mate off-screen, Cameron Jones (who plays Dallas) and he says it’s been one of his favourite experiences in joining the show so far.
Eagle-eyed Shorty social media addicts may have already spotted Josh alongside cast mates including Cameron, Tyler Read and Ben Mitchell in a series of Vine videos from Pua Magasiva on Twitter.
While we can’t give any details about Josh’s character yet, we can reveal that his arrival at Shortland Street hospital is about to stir up a lot of trouble!
