My bestie and me
We asked some of our cast to share their best friends with us - and we find out what these besties like to do together.
Sally Martin (Nicole) and Amelia Reid (Bella) are co-workers and besties. We managed to separate them so they could spill the beans on having your bestie at work and it turns out they even finish each others sentences...
How long have you two known each other?
Sally: We have known each other for a couple
of years now since she landed the role of Bella but I knew of her
through friends in Wellington by her nickname Sos - I have never
called her Amelia!
Amelia: I have known Sally properly since I
started at Shorties but I knew of her through friends before that.
The night before I started at Shortland Street she took me out for
a wine!
What's it like sharing a dressing room with each other?
Amelia: We have lots of fun! Although I secretly
think she tries to teach me to be tidier - I'm the messy
unorganised one! We spend many hours sipping tea, musing and
organising weekend antics.
Sally: It's awesome to share a dressing room! It's
just so easy, I can be how I want, when I want and she gets it.
Crying or laughing, grumpy or fabulous. We have the best room too.
It's on the corner with heaps of sunlight so it attracts many
visitors. Sos and I usually end up in charge of planning the
weekends extracurricular activities in this room.
What do you get up to together outside of work?
Sally: Eat and drink, the odd pedicure. Sos
talked me into walking with her once but we mainly eat and drink.
We both love cooking for others - the latest was homemade prawn
pizzas and pinot gris at her place with a group of mates. However
we both love a rowdy BYO Thai evening and can usually be tempted
out on the town afterwards...usually...she's highly
persuasive.
Amelia: Eating! We love trying new restaurants or
organising BYO's with the other cast or cooking at home - whatever
we get up to it usually involves food, wine and laughter!

Sally: Laugh, did she say drink? Hahaha, I bet she
said drink! Drink and laugh!
