Mum's the word
A familiar face returns to Shortland Street this week when
Louise Wallace reprises her role as Brooke's mother Annette
Freeman.
The well-known presenter, journalist, director and actor is
thrilled to be re-joining the cast to play Brooke's alcoholic and
vitriolic mother.
"It's always great to see Beth again," says Wallace. "We get on
really well and always have a few laughs, plus the crew are
fantastic and it's always a great challenge working in the fast
turnaround of Shortland Street."
Again returning to Ferndale unannounced, Annette's in for a bit of
a surprise this time round when she discovers that Bree (
Rachael Blampied ), the daughter she gave up for
adoption at birth, has also established herself in Ferndale and
connected with Brooke.
"I don't imagine Annette ever anticipated having to deal with this
part of her past, so it throws her a real curveball when she
arrives and discovers Bree has firmly entrenched herself in
Brooke's life."
Louise has enjoyed the experience of working with Beth Allen
again, but has also thoroughly enjoyed establishing a bond with new
'daughter', Rachael Blampied.
"The storylines have been fantastic and Rachael and I have had a
great time getting into character and immersing ourselves in this
dark little story," she says.
"In some ways, Bree and Annette are more similar than Brooke and
Annette, which really riles Annette. I think people will be
fascinated by the turns this storylines takes."
