Lana Jacobs
Gabrielle's younger sister Lana is a quick-witted MBA graduate
in her early twenties.
She has a distinctive vintage style of dress and loves to give
fashion advice.
At times cynical, Lana has a serious side that takes over,
especially in the work place. She is confident, single minded
and determined to be a success in business.
Lana has a passion for fashion and set up an on-line business
selling vintage clothes, fabrics and designs. But she
struggled to keep her website running, even with unwanted help
from her sister Gabrielle, so she decided to keep
fashion as her hobby and focus on her career as a
P.A.
Lana has been estranged from her family. Her parents
always favoured Gabrielle and, growing up, she felt stuck in
Gabrielle's shadow.
Lana is intelligent and showed a natural inclination to mathematics
and sciences but gave them up in order to distinguish herself from
Gabrielle. This disappointed Lana's parents and a part of her
felt that she had let them down.
Lana has always done the emotional work in her relationship with
Gabrielle. She loves her sister but found it exhausting
maintaining the relationship and decided to give it away when
Gabrielle left her to care for their clinically depressed mother
while she went to Australia to study.
Their mother didn't want Gabrielle to know about the extent of her
depression and Gabrielle was unable to pick up on the emotional
strain that Lana was suffering. Lana blamed Gabrielle and
wished she had a sister who could have shared the emotional burden
and given her the support she needed.
Lana and Gabrielle have begun to work through their problems and form a sisterly bond. Lana has once again taken on a protective role, looking out for her sister's welfare.
Lana has recently started seeing Daniel Potts.
