Jacqueline Nairn
Former primary school teacher Jacqueline Nairn may have left her days of being a school teacher behind her, but she's now ended up taking on the responsibility of looking after several teenagers with her new role as Nurse Wendy Cooper on Shortland Street .
After playing Florence in an amateur theatre production of Chess
in Palmerston North whilst teaching, Nairn decided that acting was
her true passion and headed up to Auckland to do a Bachelor of
Performing and Screen Arts at UNITEC.
After graduating in 2000 she headed to London where she promptly
secured a role as an understudy in the sell-out West End hit Fallen
Angels alongside well-known actresses Felicity Kendall and Frances
de la Tour.
After 2 years performing in various theatre productions in London and Europe, Nairn returned to New Zealand where she continued working in theatre with roles in The Women, Suddenly Last summer and Plenty at the Silo Theatre, King Lear, a one woman show Bombshells, and Streetcar Named Desire, which was invited to be part of a Tennessee Williams Festival in the United States last year.
Whilst Jacquie has had several small roles on a number of
television shows and films, including a previous role on
Shortland Street in 2000, this is her first core
cast role on a television series and will most definitely give her
something to sink her teeth into.
When Jacquie isn't busy with her brood of young adults on
Shortland Street, she enjoys doing yoga, dabbles
in writing, tennis and Burlesque dance classes.
