Frankie Adams
17 year old actress Frankie Adams was a school girl one day and
an actress virtually the next when she was signed for her role as
stubborn teenager, Ula Levi on
Shortland Street.
Keen to find an actress to play the part of Maxwell Avia's
wayward daughter,
Shortland Street casting
director, Andrea Kelland searched high and low to get the right
person.
She was finding it incredibly difficult, so put out the call
to drama classes at several local Auckland schools, including
Frankie's school, Auckland Girls' Grammar.
Frankie, who had only ever acted as part of her school drama class,
was encouraged to attend the audition by her friends, and the rest,
shall we say, is history!
Within only a matter of days between getting the role, she was on
screen and working alongside of two of New Zealand's most prominent
Polynesian actors, Robbie Magasiva and Teuila Blakely, who play her
on-screen parents, Maxwell Avia and Vasa Levi.
Born in Samoa, Frankie moved to New Zealand with her mother and her
two sisters when she was just four.
It was only recently that she was finally able to make the
trip home to Samoa to visit family members for the first time since
she left.
A keen sportsperson, Frankie enjoys playing netball and basketball
and also hanging out with her friends.
She's also very interested in fashion and enjoys searching through
opportunity Shops to find clothing bargains!
