feature.
Sally Martin (Nicole Miller)
What are some of your favourite things about
summer?
Heat! Bright sun and blue skies just make me happy. So
does rose wine, summer dresses and barbeques...can't wait!
Can you tell us about one of your stand-out summer
memories?
Last summer - spending time with my sister Gretchen and her
boyfriend Wade up at his family's beach house in Waimarama.
To wake up to the sound of waves, take the dog for a run with the
quad bike, and to just chill out on the deck in the sun, with such
good company is simply magic.
Any advice for getting ready for summer?
I think almost everyone looks healthier with a summer 'glow'. Get
out the bronzer! I use those gradual build-a-tan style products
because they're subtle and are good moisturisers at the same
time.
Lee Donoghue (Hunter McKay)
What are some of your favourite things about
summer?
The beach, Christmas presents, holidays, New Year, catching up with
family and friends.
Can you tell us about one of your stand-out summer
memories?
Camp Kennedy in Napier, 1998 - 1999. Spent the holiday in a camper
van with my best mate Rhys and his dad Russell. So much fun.
Got to fly Rhys's uncle John's plane, biscuit behind the boat, and
do heaps of cool stuff.
Any advice for getting ready for summer?
Get your New Years' plans sorted early. Get your body sorted. Just
make sure you're going to be happy with the Facebook photos!
Faye Smythe (Tania Jeffries)
What are some of your favourite things about
summer?
Sun, sand, surf, bikinis, ice-cream, barbeques, long days, family,
friends and travel music CDs!
Can you tell us about one of your stand-out summer
memories?
Last summer after New Years', we drove out to a remote private
beach along the East Cape and spent the day drinking beer,
eating fresh crayfish and seafood and freshly baked bread.
Swam, sunbathed and played sports. New Zealand has the most
amazing summers - I don't know why anyone would go away to another
land.
Any advice for getting ready for
summer?
Hitting the gym is for winter, so you can get out and have fun in
summer, and look awesome!
I break out the bikinis, shorts and singlets. I buy one or two
bikinis every year so I have quite a collection. But I live in them
over the summer. Also stock up on sunscreen. I'm big on
sunscreen.
Ange Bloomfield (Rachel McKenna)
What are some of your favourite things about summer?
Barbeque food - yummy and generally good for you!
Singlets and sunglasses, I love summer fashion. Warm nights. Kids
look so cute in shortie pyjamas too.
Can you tell us about one of your stand-out summer memories?
I used to love family holidays when I was younger - a tradition I
want to start with my hubby and our kiddies. Days on the sand and
in the surf, tenting and exploring.
Any advice for getting ready for
summer?
Take the cover off the Barbie. Maybe purchase some outdoor
furniture for dinners on the deck. Dust off the sun umbrella and
make sure the car's ready for trips to the beach up north.
Beth Allen (Brooke Freeman)
What are some of your favourite things about summer?
Swimming in the ocean; glasses of rose in the sun; seafood; long
dusky evenings; reading entire books in one sitting.
Can you tell us about one of your stand-out summer memories?
Standing on the sand dunes overlooking the beach at sunrise at
Whangapoua on January 1st, 2000.
Stripping down to our undies, about to take off the rest for a
new-millennium skinny-dip...and looking down the beach and
realising that several hundred other holiday-makers were also all
up at 6am to see the sunrise. Undies stayed on, swim still had, as
the storm rolled out. Awesome.
Any advice for getting ready for
summer?
Smile. We all do so much more of it as the weather gets warmer and
the days get longer and everyone seems so much more beautiful and
happy.
Robbie Magasiva (Maxwell Avia)
What are some of your favourite things about
summer?
Daylight saving. Having friends and family around for barbeques on
the deck along with some cold ones. Swimming up north.
Just learnt how to surf, so looking forward to getting into the
water more often.
Can you tell us about one of your stand-out summer
memories?
None come to mind, but most of the summers I've had have been
memorable.
Any advice for getting ready for
summer?
Just do it!
