Get to know Peter
Aussie import Peter Mochrie aka Dr Callum McKay, has rapidly become a firm favourite with fans. We got to know more about him in this one on one chat:
How did you get your role on SS?
I auditioned in Sydney and got the part after waiting a
week.
How long have you been acting and how did you get your first big
break?
I've been acting 28 years and auditioned for a role in a
show called the Restless Years in 1978.
Name three similarities between you and your onscreen
character.
Energetic, driven and ambitious.
What has been your best experience/scene on the show to date?
A scene with TK discussing an upcoming Maori health
issue. Stay tuned!
Which other character would you like to be and why?
Chris Warner. He has the power, Luke!
What are your hobbies/interests outside of SS?
Surfing, surfing and SURFING!
What is your favourite destination in NZ and overseas?
In New Zealand it is Piha, overseas it would have to be
Wales.
Are you single or attached?
Attached.
Do you have any children or plan to have children?
No and yes.
What is your date of birth and what star sign are you?
23rd of March. Aries.
What is the thing you enjoy most about going to work
everyday?
The time between action and cut.
Have you made any good friends amongst the cast and crew?
Benjamin Mitchell. We share a dressing room.
Can you remember your first day on Shortland Street - what was it
like?
Yes. It was exhilarating and fast.
If you weren't acting, what would you do for a job?
I would be a teacher which is what I do when I'm not
acting.
