Coming up in March
We're in the throes of an exciting new year on Shortland Street - look ahead at some of March's big stories here - exclusive to the official Shortland Street website.
A new doctor drives into the
Shortland Street
hospital carpark this month, and for several female staff members,
the day suddenly gets a lot brighter!
Yes,
Shortland Street welcomes another tall,
good looking surgeon by the name of Isaac Worthington.
Successful, well bred, well dressed and very confident, his manner
might remind you of another Shorty Street doc, Chris Warner...it
seems medicine is a family affair as we learn Isaac is Chris'
cousin (on his mother's side).
With Chris' reputation to live down, will Isaac prove to be
another Warner "Casanova"? Does the "love-em and leave-em" gene run
in the blood? Or will Isaac prove to be more steadfast and
faithful?
It soon becomes apparent that plenty of the Shorty gals are willing
to find out!
With the turmoil of the past months and the horrendous death of her
sister Morgan playing on her mind, Nicole Miller makes a momentous
decision about her future.
Will Nicole finally confirm her feelings for fellow nurse Maia and
make a go of a relationship with her? Or does she have other plans
in mind?
Several
Shortland Streeters tap into their
theatrical side this month as local dramatic society The Ferndale
Players recruits new members.
Desperate to find a shared hobby, Yvonne and Ben are roped into
proceedings and are swiftly joined by flamboyant receptionist
Gerald Tippett and a reluctant Daniel Potts.
Tackling Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest brings out
hidden talents in the players, and also sparks new friendships -
and rivalries!
Yvonne swiftly becomes aware that leading lady Jewel might be doing
more than "acting" as she bats her eyelashes at Yvonne's man,
Ben.
Will this cougar be able to fend off her younger challenger?
Plus we can reveal that a
big name New Zealander will
guest-star in the performance in April.
In fact plenty of drama at the dramatic society is guaranteed, so
stay tuned as it all unfolds!
Caring paramedic Hunter McKay comes face to face with danger this
month, when he attempts to help a desperate drug addict.
Despite being warned by Tracey Morrison not to get involved with
junkie Astrid, soft hearted Hunter feels for her when Astrid begs
him for sterile needles to use.
Going against protocol, Hunter agrees to meet with Astrid on the
quiet, to hand over a few hospital supplies.
Sensing Hunter is a soft touch, Astrid hatches a bigger plan - a
way Hunter can be really useful to her.
As Hunter turns up to their pre-arranged rendezvous, he's
oblivious to the trap that awaits - one that will have terrible
consequences!
There's a new dynamic duo on top at
Shortland
Street hospital, in the form of CEO Callum McKay and his
hard-nosed 2IC Rachel McKenna.
Basking in the glow of their fledgling personal relationship, can
this power couple be trusted to separate home and work life?
With some difficult budgetary cuts to be made at the hospital,
Callum seems more than happy to hand the decision making over to
Rachel.
Is Callum blinded by his attraction to Rachel or is he confident
that she has the hospital's best interests at heart?
When Rachel comes up with a shock initiative to lay off staff, will
Callum support her rationale to rid the hospital of some of your
favourite faces?
Last month, their wedding day ended in disaster when groom-to-be
Kieran was accused of murder, right before he could say his "I
do's."
However the subsequent confession of Kieran's brother Sid to
Morgan's murder saw the police drop their case against
Kieran.
Now the question remains, will Sophie and Kieran make it to the
altar for a second time?
As the heat dies down regarding Kieran's involvement with Sid (who
fled the country and those murder charges) his sole aim is to get
his relationship with Sophie back on track.
Can Kieran work his charms and convince his wary fiancé
that love really does conquer all? Or has the trust between them
been eroded too far?
Meanwhile, another
Shortland Streeter determined
to put the past behind him is Head of Nursing, Scotty.
With the losses and heartbreaks of 2009 fading, Scotty is starting
to look to a brighter future.
He is enjoying sharing his home with fellow nurse Tracey Morrison
and recently hosted an impromptu party there.
Fresh from his social success, TK and Scotty hit the IV bar for a
drink or two.
One drink leads to two, and two lead to many more - the more
intoxicated he gets, the more Scotty comes out of his shell!
Don't miss what happens next, as Scotty reveals a few drunken
truths and his night takes a very surprising twist!
Shorty Street fans - be sure to tune in during March as
New Zealand's favourite serial drama turns up the heat!
