Wendy Cooper
Out of the work force for many years, due to raising her three
children, nurse Wendy Cooper is now part of the Shortland
Street team.
Married to Murray when she was seventeen, Wendy started having
children pretty early and is the proud mother of Bella, Evan
and Jasmine.
Wendy is a champion of the underdog - it's how she sees herself, battling for her family.
She has an almost bottomless well of sympathy for the plight of the common family man.
Because of this, she quite often finds herself battling against the bosses for the rights of the people she believes are not strong enough to stand up for themselves.
This often gets her in trouble.
She and her husband Murray own and operate the IV bar
across the road from the hospital.
Daughter Bella is working on the reception desk at the hospital,
having left Beauty College.
At Christmas 2010, son Evan went missing and was later discovered 'squatting' in Callum and Rachel's unrenovated apartment block.
Evan accidentally started the fire there but was saved by
Murray.
Evan went to court and Murray didn't believe his story that the
fire was an accident.
It caused a lot of tension for Murray and Wendy - however they
worked through their differences.
Then Murray found himself attracted to Wendy's boss Vasa Levi and
they shared several kisses.
When an angry Wendy found out, she confronted a contrite Murray,
who vowed to stick with her.
Wendy has been dealing with the shock diagnosis of the possibly life-threatening heart condition, Long QT syndrome and feels guilty about passing it on to her daughters.
Wendy was excited about the prospect of being a grandmother when Evan claimed to to be the father of Ula's baby.
She became fixated on finally buying a family home and convinced Murray to sell his bike.
Despite learning Evan wasn't actually the father, Wendy was still excited about their new house.
