The former best friend of Jasmine, Dayna Jenkins quickly got herself, and those around her, in to a whole heap of trouble after she arrived in Ferndale.
Smart talking and super-confident, Dayna seems mature beyond her years, which is can be dangerous as she’s an erratic free spirit who’s had few boundaries, thanks to her parents’ notable absence in her life.
Dayna’s outward confidence covered a scared little girl who desperately craved boundaries and the safety net of parental control. Although Dayna would rather die than admit her weaknesses, it’s what drew her to Jasmine Cooper and her family.
Always needing a partner in crime, Dayna quickly bonded with Jasmine and the pair got into themselves into trouble several times.
Dayna came to live with the Coopers after an accidental drug overdose. Living in such close quarters with the constantly hyper Dayna rubbed Jasmine up the wrong way; and when Dayna realised she was losing her best mate (and potentially the roof over her head), she panicked.
Her biopolar disorder was revealed when the stress pushed Dayna over the edge and into a psychotic state. Dayna left town with her mother to get treatment for her condition.
She returned to Shortland Street after her mother suffered an accident and was admitted to intensive care. When her mother was declared braindead, Dayan faced the difficult descion to donate her mother’s organs. She was soon joined by her young brother Kane.
With nowhere else for the teens to go, Wendy asked Dayna and Kane to come and live with them.
Dayna enjoys living with the Cooper family but her passionate fling with their son Evan may put her new found family security at stake.
