New Zealand dissected Japan with brutal ease in their second pool match at the Wellington Sevens tonight.
The Kiwis ran in 54-0 winners in an eight-try demolition job, with debutant Mark Jackman scoring twice, as well as Hosea Gear adding two.
Gear set up the first try, breaking from the Kiwis' 22-metre line and run within 10 metres of the sticks before handing the final pass to Jackman to score.
Gear created the second for Tomasi Cama's 101st Sevens circut try, and under a minute later he'd made it 102.
Bryce Heem scored in the final minute of the half to have the Kiwis leading 26-0 at the break.
Solomon King further increased NZ's lead 30 seconds into the second half as the Japanese line opened up.
After creating two tries for other team mates, Gear dotted down for one of his own after some marvellous stepping
Jackman ran 80-odd metres to notch his second as the Japanese began to tire, before Gear ran in his second to cap off a much improved performance from their first effort against Scotland .
They play their final pool match against Samoa at 9.58 tonight.
