Former All Blacks captain Tana Umaga is on the verge of confirming his return home.

It is being reported that Umaga has signed a two-year contract with Counties Manukau to become a player/coach for the 2010 NPC season.

It has also been reported in the Waikato Times that Umaga, who has most recently been coaching and playing at French Top14 side Toulon since 2007, will play and assist head coach Milton Haig at the struggling club.

If the reports of a two-year deal are true, 36-year-old Umaga could also be available for selection in the Chiefs side for the 2011 Super 15 campaign.

Umaga's manager Glenda Hughes said on Friday they are not in a position to confirm anything, but an announcement is expected early next week.
