He may have a vested interest, but former Wallabies coach Eddie Jones believes Springboks coach Peter de Villiers is in danger of losing his job.

Jones has confirmed he has been approached by Jake White about replicating their relationship in 2007, and leading South Africa to another World Cup.

Jones says the Boks are playing like a broken down old car and someone needs to be held responsible.

They need to change either the head coach or assistant coach, and de Villiers' lack of coaching experience at the top level may be showing through, he believes.

Timing is everything, and Jake White's decision to publicly announce his desire to coach the Boks again, will only put even more pressure on de Villiers to win at home.
