Published: 7:00PM Friday April 26, 2013 Source: ONE Sport

The Stormers were too strong for the Hurricanes in their Super Rugby clash in Palmerston North tonight.

FULL TIME: Hurricanes 16-18 Stormers

The stormers hang on to upset the Hurricanes at home.

Bryan Habana's charge down of Beauden Barrett's first half conversion attempt proved crucial in the wash-up with just two-points seperating the teams.

The Stormers defence was like a brick wall for most of the match as they managed to constantly get numbers to the tackled-ball area to stifle the Hurricanes attack.

The Hurricanes changed tactics briefly in the lead up to Andre Taylor's try but could not land the killer blow when they needed while the visitors did enough to hang on.

Pre-Match

It's all about the return of Bryan Habana for the men from Cape Town. The Stormers have lacked penetration and that's one trait the Boks speedster has in spades.

On the other hand, Hurricanes star winger Julian Savea has made himself unavailable pending assault charges. His exit is one of many changes, with Jason Eaton, Karl Lowe, Victor Vito, TJ Perenara and Andre Taylor all returning to the starting side and winger Matt Proctor making his debut.

The Stormers haven't won on the road since last year. The Hurricanes have only lost one match at home this year in what was their first game of the season.
