The Crusaders were too strong for the Rebels in their Super Rugby clash in Christchurch today.

FULLTIME: Crusaders 30-26 Rebels

The Crusaders utilised all their experience to get home over a brave Rebels outfit who threatened right until the final whistle.

After starting the second half the stronger side the Rebels fell off the pace in the last quarter with some questionable replacements made to their side.

Ill-discipline also played a part with several crucial penalties going against the visiotrs in the last 20 minutes.

The likes of Dan Carter and Andy Ellis helped the Crusaders' cause but Tom Taylor's boot proved the difference overall.

Crusaders coach Todd Blackadder will be looking for an improved effort from his side, who have struggled for consistency this season, having won just 50% of their games.

The seven time champions will be boosted by Dan Carter's presence on the bench, while Blackadder has made three other changes to his lineup.

Joe Moody starts at loosehead prop with Wyatt Crocket shifting to the bench, halfback Willi Heinz will start, while Tom Taylor comes in at inside centre moving Ryan Crotty into the No. 13 jersey.

The 12th placed Rebels have made three changes to the side that lost to the Southern Kings last week.

Foundation Rebel Jarrod Saffy and rookie Tom English have both been promoted to the run on side, while Gareth Delve returns to the bench.

Kick off is scheduled for 4.05pm.
