Former New Zealand international referee Steve Walsh is set to make a return to the Super 14.
Now living in Australia, Walsh has been named to take control of the Western Force's fixture against the Brumbies in Perth on Friday night.
After falling out with the New Zealand Rugby Union, Walsh
shifted to Sydney late last year and was subsequently offered a
two-year contract with the Australian Rugby Union.
He said at the time
that he had a drinking problem but that the NZRU had not
supported him through it.
Walsh, who refereed his first test match in June 1998, has
had extensive experience at domestic, Super 14 and
international level, having refereed in both Six Nations and Tri
Nations tests.
He was appointed to the last two Rugby World Cup tournaments.
