Hurricanes captain Conrad Smith has been given the all clear to play the Reds in Brisbane on Friday night after recovering from a head knock that forced him from the field in the loss to the Blues.
Smith left the field in the loss at Westpac Stadium when he collided with Rene Ranger and was unable to return after failing the mandatory Pitch Side Concussion Assessment.
It was feared the knock may have ruled Smith out this week, but doctors were happy with his recovery and have given him the all clear to travel to Brisbane today.
Elsewhere in the side only three changes have been made to the line-up with Jeffery Toomaga-Allen returning to the side to start at tighthead prop.
On the bench, Motu Matu'u will make his first appearance for the Canes in 2013 after suffering a pectoral injury during pre-season training. James Broadhurst will pull on the number 18 jersey as he comes in to replace the injured Mark Reddish.
Not considered for selection this week due to injury includes Jack Lam (knee), Mark Reddish (hamstring), Eric Sione (shoulder) and Blade Thomson (ankle).
