Five All Blacks will swap their rugby shorts for cricket whites to play in a fundraising match.

Andrew Ellis, Israel Dagg, Corey Flynn, Kieran Read and Wyatt Crockett will join other sporting personalities in a 40-over cricket match to raise funds for Christchurch teacher Steve Hart on Sunday.

Hart, who is deputy principal at St Thomas of Canterbury College, was diagnosed with a life-threatening form of appendix cancer last year.

The 34-year-old father of four, who has coached both the school's first XV and first XI, has had his appendix and half his bowel removed. Because his appendix had perforated, the cancer could have spread and Hart would require ongoing chemotherapy and treatment.

Money raised will be used to help pay for Hart's treatment. The teams include former New Zealand and Canterbury players, old boys of St Thomas' and several promising cricketers.

Entrance to the match at St Thomas of Canterbury College, starting at noon, will be gold-coin donation.
