Watch out for Burgess warn Kangaroos

The Kangaroos have warned NRL peers to watch out for South Sydney's English recruit Sam Burgess to have a big impact in 2010.

Burgess, 20, will link up with the Rabbitohs soon after producing some eye-catching form for England in the Four Nations tournament.

The 20-year-old Bradford forward scored two tries in England's 40-16 loss to Australia in the final last weekend and was arguably the best player on the field.

"He's a very good player, South's are going to get some great value out of him," said Kangaroos coach Tim Sheens on arrival home from Australia's Four Nations triumph.

"I think when he gets NRL fit, he's a really good player."

Centre Greg Inglis, the Golden Boot winner and player of the Four Nations series, also gave Burgess a rave review.

"He's an outstanding player, he's a big unit," Inglis said.

"I think he will take the NRL by storm and I think he will do wonders at South Sydney."

Veteran prop Petro Civoniceva said: "I think he's going to be a very exciting proposition for South Sydney and he will be someone to watch"

Burgess will supplement a powerful South Sydney pack which can also count boom youngster Dave Taylor and veteran Ben Ross amongst its other recruits.

But Sheens, who has got tremendous value out of another British forward, Gareth Ellis at Wests Tigers this year, didn't anticipate the trickle of Englishmen into the NRL turning into a flood.
