The NRL All Stars could be looking for a new fullback after Melbourne Storm's Billy Slater went down at training with a right ankle problem on Tuesday.

Officials say they will know more in the next 24 hours, with medical staff monitoring Slater's condition.

At this stage it is unknown whether he will recover in time for Saturday night's clash with the Indigenous All Stars on the Gold Coast.

Slater fell down at a ball work drill at Coogee Oval on Monday morning and had to be assisted off the field.
