New Warriors signing Brett Seymour gets his first chance to impress and prove he is worthy in a trial match against the Roosters this weekend.
It has been a long pre-season for Seymour, and he admits it hasn't been easy sticking to a strict alcohol ban imposed following last year's transgressions.
"It was tough at first but I've got to adjust with it all now, and I've got different things in my life now that make me happy and i don't have to revert to partying and going out all the time," he told ONE News.
It was alcohol that threatened to end his NRL career after being sacked by the Brisbane Broncos, then the Cronulla Sharks for drunken behaviour.
But in a complete role reversal, it appears he is now the one setting the example for his Warriors team-mates.
"Everyone's supporting him the best they can and I can't say enough about how well he's gone and the good influence he's been on young guys in the club and he's a very commanding character," captain Micheal Luck says.
The club aiming to use his assertive personality to full effect.
"I've played Brisbane under Wayne Bennett, Cronulla under Ricky Stuart and now here, and I know a couple of senior guys, having a chat to them they said they need someone to step up to the mark and show the guys the way and I've been round long enough to take that role now," Seymour says.
Seymour's first outing for the Warriors is a pre-season match against the Roosters in Rotorua on Saturday.
