Returning Warriors centre Jerome Ropati says everyone at the club is hurting, but no-one is prepared to lie down and die.
Ropati, who has been sidelined with a shoulder injury, comes back into the starting line-up for the round 24 clash with the Canberra Raiders.
The Kiwi international told tvnz.co.nz his body is feeling good for the first time in over a month and he's still hungry for action despite the season being effectively over.
"Looking at the guys in the team we're all hurting. I know for sure we're not going to lie down and cruise through the last few games.
"One good reason [to keep going] is Stacey's going to be playing his last few games so to play alongside him and send him off on the right note is important."
It has been a tough year on and off the field for the Warriors, and Ropati in particular.
The 24-year-old's 2009 began with heartbreaking news that team-mate and close friend Sonny Fai had gone missing in the water at Bethells Beach.
Then, after a good start to the NRL season, the Warriors' campaign went downhill and never recovered.
Add to that the injury niggles that have stuck to him throughout.
Ropati admitted that '09 has been difficult and at times his desire to keep going has really been tested.
"Yeah it did [test me]. And it tested our confidence and ability to trust in each other on the field.
"But it's a good thing for us to learn. These circumstances pop up every year - it's how you deal with them that determines whether or not you're a good team."
Looking ahead to next season, Ropati is confident it will all be different for the Warriors.
"I think who we've signed so far is great. And our 20s are in good shape so you can't ask for anything more."
