Papua New Guinea qualified for the 2010 Four Nations tournament after defeating the Cook Islands 42-14 in the Pacific Cup final on Sunday.

The hosts dominated from the outset building a 20-10 halftime lead and racing away after the interval, thanks to a hat-trick from Gold Coast Titans young gun David Mead.

Local hero Menzie Yere also scored two tries as the young Cook Islanders were outclassed by a determined Kumuls side roared on by a full house at Lloyd Robson Oval.
